Hey, look!

Yep. That's the view from the highest (seven) floor of King's College London. London Eye and Houses of Parliament. Pretty neat, isn't it? ;]

OK. Yesterday I didn't get time to write a proper note. Today I don't have time for that either but I REALLY HAVE TO DO THAT. Reading for Geographical Foundations can wait. I can always take Misha with me and read those two articles between the classes. I have tutorials at 11:30 and said Geographical Foundations from 2 to 4 PM. And that's all for me on Thursday. I guess now you're curious about the rest of my timetable. Let's start from the fact that I spent 8 hours at uni per week. Yes. You read that right. Only eight hours. On Monday I have the AKC lecture (ethics/religion studies, I enroled for it because I find it quite interesting) at 12 and right after that two-hour-long lecture on The Changing Natural Environment. Tuesdays are my free days so I think I'm gonna put a work shift here. On Wednesdays at 12 there are Principles of Geographical Inquiry and on Fridays there is a practical session connected with the PGI lecture that's from 11 to noon. That's my whole plan for this term.

So yeah. It's been a week. And a lot of things happened during that time. It feels more like a month, really. Let's start from Monday - the first 'proper day' of my academic year. First lecture? I don't know, I really like geography and can listen to people talking about it 24/7, so I don't think I'm the one to judge.OKAY, MAYBE I AM. It was nice. Interesting. And I have to tell you something: it's the first time I feel like geography is a good choice for my future, that it's something worth learning. Back in Poland when I told my friends or classmates that I'm going to study geography they generally just looked at me like I was a lesser human being. Here? People are so passionate about the subject, about the broad spectrum of topics it covers, about the fact that nearly EVERYTHING that surrounds us has something to do with it. And the fact that they dedicated their lives to it simply amazes me. It's something I want to do too and I have finally found courage to do it. Apart from boosting my self-esteem Monday greeted me with other new experiences. Like waiting for an hour at the Strand reception for the organisators of the first Anime&Manga Society screening to get the room for us and start the screening. Which I didn't attend at the end because I went to Waterfront, campus' bar/pub with people whom I met during this one-hour-waiting. Silvia, Sasu, Aga, Ellen? I'm still not sure what is her actual name, I just didn't hear it. And on facebook her name's Zetsubou. Not really helping. Anyways, we spent about two hours together at the pub and now I think I've found the right people for me. Geeks, LGBT movement, passionate about what they're doing... Yep. My people. The fact that they've known each other for a year now (since they're all on second year) is not a problem at all. They just kinda 'gripped me tight and raised me from perdition'. Or, to put it in other words, held the door for me and let me into their group. Which is brilliant. We already decided that we'll go to Amsterdam together. It's gonna be lots of fun. Of course IF I'll go, I'm still pretty tight on money. But there is one good thing: today I finally got my Oyster card, no more losing cash on the way to uni! :D

Back to the story. Tuesday wa a really lazy day for me since I didn't have to go to the city centre. I just stayed at home and read fanfiction beacuse I could. Now I can't, and I'll tell you why in a moment. On Wednesday - a lecture, shopping for food, first GeekSoc meeting at Penderel's Oak (it's a nice pub on High Holborn) and a pub quiz. I've met so many people (and they all complimented my Winchester T-shirt <3), I don't remember most of the names and it really irritates me. At least I know 6 people, the ones that were in my group for the quiz. Ok, maybe 5 people from my group, I have no idea what was the name of one of the guys. The names are: Annabelle, a Canadian from Hong Kong (however ridiculous that sounds xD), Laura, Rob (who had a really cool T-shirt which said that basically everything is Loki's fault), Christine (a English Lit student from Baltimore) and Jack (whose facebook photo looks nothing like him and who is doing second year geography). WE WON THE SECOND PLACE! There was a tie after organisators counted the points and the tie breaker question was 'How many times did the TARDIS explode?'. At first we wanted to go for three (we had no Whovians in our group), but then decided on 1. The other group said 4. The answer was 3 and so we got the second place. AND SWEETS. YAY! :D I took a few with me back home: some Milky Ways, Twixes and Maltesers. And later that night I've dreamed that I came back to my family home and gave the sweets to my mum and my sisters and they were so happy about it, and I was friggin' happy too, and when I realised that it's just a dream I nearly started crying. I don't know why. Maybe I miss them a little after all. I am just so used to the fact that when I have something good to eat I always share it with Kamcio and Akira and now when I can't do that it just feels... I don't know. Wrong? It makes me sad, that's for sure.

Thursday. I have noooo... Ok, I may have an idea of what happened on Thursday xD My first tutorial. I got out of home a little bit too late (as always, but shh, no one has to know that) and I was afraid that I won't be at King's at 11:30. But somehow I was. And now the fun part: it came out that my first tutorial won't be in a room at Geography Department and I had to go out of the building (down from the fourth floor and about 50m through the corridor to the exit), go over the corner, down the street, into the Norfolk Building and to the second floor. It took me about 5 minutes and I was sure that I'm gonna be the last person at the tutorial. But I wasn't. Three people didn't make it to the room xD There was only four of us: me, Iona, Michael and Hester. And two tutors. One of whom I took for a student because he seems to be SO young. He probably is though. And he looks like Hugh Dancy. HUGH FUCKING DANCY. And he is the Human Geography tutor, WHYYY. As you may know I prefer the physical part. Oh well.

Friday. The worst part of it was when I realised how many books I have on my reading lists. That's why I can't read fanfiction anymore. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. I've also learned that Dr Andrew Brooks is a really down to earth professor (down to earth, hehe...). He reminds me a bit of my high school history teacher. Good at telling stories, charismatic, not exactly old but not young too. I think I'm going to take SO MUCH from his lectures. And from the readings... His reading list is the longest, ugh. But I got the first book, so I think I'm gonna read them all after some time :D

I've done practically NOTHING this weekend. I've been reading fanfiction and discovering new songs. Nazareth's 'Broken Down Angel' and Led Zeppelin's 'The Rain Song' are really good. Also I hate my analysis of some mainstream pop songs because now 'Halo' by Beyonce will always remind me of Destiel and anyone who tells me that it isn't sang from Dean's POV (everything except the second part of the second verse, which is definitely Castiel's) is lying.

OK, that's the whole last week summed up in one note. Neat. Now I'm going to make another note for the week that's just started. Don't worry, it won't be as long as this one, I promise ;]

See ya!

yuujiro O sweetheart! *przytula* Tylko 8 godzin, wow.
