Recover Lost CCTV Footage

A video surveillance system or a CCTV is what we usually see in most establishments even in some houses. Owners put these security cameras in certain places to record videos and save the files on the DVR memory for video surveillance. These recorded videos or CCTV footages play an important role in tracking events/happenings like authorities conducting investigations on certain crimes or accidents to gather evidence.

 

Also, if someone threatens you and the CCTV camera captured the incident, then you can use the CCTV footage to file a complaint against that person. Or if there is a vehicular accident and it was captured on the CCTV camera, the CCTV footage will serve as the basis for who is to blame for why that accident happened. That is how important CCTV footage is.

 

We need to check our surveillance system from time to time to see if there are unusual happenings captured by your CCTV camera. But what if there is an incident captured by your CCTV and you want to review that footage on your DVR but you cant find it? Is it deleted? Is recovering lost CCTV footage from DVR possible?

 

Why does Video Loss happen on a DVR or Security Camera?

There are many reasons why video loss happens on a security camera. Here, we listed some factors why CCTV footage was lost from DVR.

  • Wiring Problems - Bent and twisted wiring will cause signal loss or weak signal passing through the cables.
  • Defective Hardware - If you fixed all the above factors then the cause of the video loss is your DVR. It may be damaged or defective.
  • Faulty IR Sensor - A security camera that has night vision is built with infrared light to cast light upon the dark. A night vision camera has an IR sensor that detects infrared wavelengths allowing the camera to see in the dark. If the IR sensor is at fault, it will only record all dark during the night that you might think the CCTV camera is not working.
